This page explains the type of information that is collected by the Child and Youth Health web site, and how such information is used.

Data collected while browsing

We do not collect information that can identify any person who visits the site. When someone visits the site, our server makes a record of the visit and logs the following anonymous information:

  • the user's server address
  • the user's top level domain name
  • the date and time of visit to the site
  • the pages accessed and documents downloaded
  • the previous site visited
  • any search words used
  • the type of browser software used

This information is analysed each month to help us monitor traffic loads and accessibility of the pages on our site. No attempt will be made to identify persons using the site, except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may wish to inspect server log files.

Cookies

The NIFTeY web site uses 'cookies' for maintaining contact with a user during and between web browsing sessions. A cookie is a small file supplied by the NIFTeY site stored on your computer by your web browser software when you access this site. The cookie is used so that the site can recognise you as a unique user as you move around the site, and when you return to the site on different occasions - this allows us to get a more accurate picture of how many unique users are visiting our site, and how often they come back. Please note that this cookie does not store any personal information about you, and can in no way be used to identify a person.

You may choose to disable cookies in your web browser settings, or only allow certain types of cookies - this will have no effect on your experience of using our web site.

Your e-mail address or phone number

The NIFTeY site may record your e-mail address or phone number if you send us a site query - this will allow us to get back to you if you require a response. All e-mail addresses and phone numbers are stored securely within an isolated database.

Your details will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it. When you make an enquiry through the web site, your contact details are forwarded to the appropriate person for a reply.

Your e-mail address will not be added to any mailing lists without your permission, and we will not disclose your e-mail address for any other purpose without your written consent. Phone numbers will also remain secure.

Anonymity

We allow and endorse the use of pseudonyms or aliases when you send a message to us via the site. When submitting queries, the minimum required information is a name, an e-mail address or phone number, and the message itself. You are free to use your real name (first and/or last names), or a pseudonym or alias.
