SA Plan in Action

NIFTeY (SA) operates proactively and opportunistically to address policy and service issues. In broad terms, the dimensions of the association's work include:

  • advocating for and acting as a 'voice' for the best interests of young children through its meetings with key political figures and strategic use of the media
  • increasing pubic awareness, knowledge and understanding of the importance of the early years through public forums, the NIFTeY (SA) newsletter and NIFTeY's relationship with the media
  • promoting the provision of optimal environments for young children through the annual NIFTeY (SA) Awards for Excellence in the Early Years
  • influencing the formulation of supportive early years policy and practice by articulating the implications of early years research for practice
  • using NIFTeY (SA)'s child impact guidelines to monitor and comment on the potential impact of legistation and policies on young children
  • building connections and strategic relationships with and between peak early years agencies.
